In some modifications, a selection of any one
of three beams or all of them mixed together,
may be obtained.
One advantage in using the
antenna selector switch, is to avoid dead
spots in the lobe patterns.
Another advantage is to reduce reception of permanent
echos and it also aids in the reduction of
jamming caused by enemy action.
Change
in antenna speed may be governed by an
operator for certain operations in many
types of installations.

RECEIVER GAIN CONTROL
The Receiver Gain Control, or in some in-
stances Signal Brilliance Control is used to
regulate the size or brightness of the target
echos . This control is an aid in reading
through interference. It has the same pur-
pose as a volume control on an ordinary radio
set . A few trials will enable you to determine
the optimum operating position of this con-
trol .
PPI Console.
